Welcome to Extinction Rebellion Wandsworth

Join Us from 21 April at Westminster

We have to act urgently because we’re running out of time. Climate disasters are happening around the world. These are the result of man-made emissions, which have increased massively in the last 30 years. The science is clear. Even with this evidence, our government is continuing to support new fossil fuel projects and to fund the fossil fuel industry. At the same time we are experiencing a cost of living crisis that is affecting millions of people across the UK. It’s time for us all to stand together and demand change.

To call on the government to act on the climate crisis and the other crises facing us, Extinction Rebellion are plannning to bring 100,000 people to Westminster from 21 April.

XR UK’s Immediate Demand is:

END THE FOSSIL ECONOMY

This means:

No new fossil fuel investment
No new fossil fuel licences
End fossil fuel subsidies now

OUR DEMANDS

1  TELL THE TRUTH

All institutions must communicate the danger we are in. We must be clear about the extreme cascading risks humanity now faces, the injustice this represents, its historic roots, and the urgent need for rapid political, social and economic change.

2  ACT NOW

Every part of society must act now to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025 and begin protecting and repairing nature immediately. The whole of society must move into a new precautionary paradigm, where life is sacred and all are in service to ensuring its future.

3  BE THE CHANGE

We demand a culture of participation, fairness and transparency. Only the common sense of citizens will help us navigate the challenging decisions ahead. Citizens’ Assemblies are the tool we need to establish the policies for climate and ecological justice.

4  CLIMATE JUSTICE

We demand a just transition to a regenerative society, prioritising the needs and voices of the most vulnerable and those on the environmental frontline, redressing past and present global inequalities caused by colonial, race, gender, social and class exploitation and discrimination; and all species’ right to life.
