This will be XR Wandsworth’s first face-to-face meeting of 2023. Getting 100,000 people to go to Parliament and demand change on 21 April will be a challenge, so we need everyone’s ideas! All welcome! This is a great chance for new members of XR Wandsworth to meet others and get stuck in!
There will be a Welcome to Extinction Rebellion presentation and an introduction to XR Wandsworth. A great opportunity to meet new rebels and more experienced members of XR Wandsworth and explore what role you can play. Light refreshments will be served!
A discussion of where we’re at with XR: please come and share your views about the way forward.
Chance for a debrief on the Festival of Resistance – what worked and what didn’t – and to learn a new XR skill. Who’s for art blocking? Or Discobedience dancing? New members welcome!
We will be running a Wecolme to Extinction Rebellion presentation with an introduction to XR Wandsworth. There will be an opportunity for people to chat and socialise and also a follow up on the action points that came from the discussion groups at the talk given by Lucy Hogarth on the climate crisis, which was on the 20th July.
Light refreshments will be served!
It can be difficult talking to friends about the climate crisis – for them and for us. This month’s meeting will include a discussion on ‘Telling the truth. How do we talk about the climate emergency to friends/others?’ New members welcome!
This month’s meeting will include a legal briefing on the new Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act, which is now law, and a chance to ask questions.
This month’s meeting will be focusing exclusively on inclusion and diversity and will be in the form of a workshop. Wandsworth is a very diverse borough and XR Wandsworth aims to be as inclusive as possible. This workshop will look at how XR Wandsworth can become more inclusive and see if there are any barriers that are preventing us from reaching this aim. This workshop will provide a supportive and non-judgemental environment to discuss issues around inclusivity and the action we can take to become more diverse, and also to enable people to be more confortable discussing this topic.
There is a short article which is worth reading beforehand called 12 Working Assumptions on Racism
A chance to meet other Wandsworth rebels – all very welcome!
